Dr. Cortney Smalley is the founder of Smalley Workforce Consulting Group. He is a seasoned and experienced facilitator, organizational development practitioner, and certified recruitment expert. With relationship building at the forefront of his work, Cortney helps organizations to develop sustainable and practical recruitment strategies to enhance their external and internal talent pool. With a pure passion in public speaking, Cortney has designed, facilitated and organized trainings focused on employee development, career coaching and workforce preparation. Cortney has over 10+ years in talent acquisition and diversity recruitment roles across multiple organizations, including school districts, nonprofits, universities, and the federal government. Cortney crafts and develops practical and sustainable solutions to heighten the 'employee experience' for all within their respective organizations and workplaces through interactive workshops, interventions, and programs focused on employee engagement and retention. He has created programming and training on leadership development, workforce development and building confidence in the workplace and enjoys facilitating conversations and training programs to small and large audiences. He holds the Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) Certification from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), a Professional Engagement Certification from Bowling Green State University, a Strategic Recruiting Certification from the Office of Personnel Management, a Certificate of Organizational Inclusion & Diversity from Michigan State University, and a Leading for Equity & Justice Certificate from Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Smalley currently holds a doctorate degree in Organization Development & Change from Bowling Green State University, a masters degree in Community Development with a focus in Organizational Development from the University of Detroit Mercy, a Graduate Certificate in instructional Design from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor's degree in Film, TV, & Media from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
